EASC09 Speaker – Detlof von Winterfeldt

Detlof von Winterfeldt is a Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering and of Public Policy and Management at the University of Southern California. He also is the director of USC’s Homeland Security Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorist Events (CREATE) and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). For the past thirty years, he has been active in teaching, research, university administration, and consulting. He has taught courses in statistics, decision analysis, risk analysis and management, and human judgment and decision-making. His research interests are in the foundation and practice of decision and risk analysis as applied to technology, environmental and security problems.

EASC09 speaker: J. Dennis Hastert

J. Dennis Hastert, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, joined Dickstein Shapiro LLP in 2008 as a member of the Firm’s Public Policy & Law Practice. Speaker Hastert served from January 6, 1999 until January 3, 2007 and was the longest-serving Republican Speaker in history. He was elected to the House in 1987 and served Illinois’ 14th Congressional District. Hastert received his B.A. in economics from Wheaton College (1964) and his M.S. in philosophy of education from Northern Illinois University (1967).

EASC09 speaker: Mr Luigi Rebuffi

Luigi Rebuffi graduated in Nuclear Engineering at the “Politecnico di Milano” (1984).
Holds a PhD in Engineering at the Paris – Orsay University (1987). Since 2003 he is the initiator and since 2007, the CEO, of the European Organisation for Security (EOS), gathering the most important European private security stakeholders and public NGOs from the supply and demand side to develop and implement consistent European security solutions and services in a comprehensive approach.

“With the creation of EOS, European Industry Stakeholders have now found a way to address the fragmentation of the European security  market together with the European Commission, Memberstates and both users and operators.”
